I Wanna Rock And Roll All Night... And Potty Every Day!

Mommy and Daddy's new year's resolution is to get me potty-trained. (God forbid they should make any resolutions for themselves!)

Let's just say it's hit or miss right now.

The Countess

My latest trick is counting to ten. It's not quite a straight shot though. I usually skip four and say five twice. Then I always get hung up on seven (aka semmen). I really love NINE! The toaster timer in the background here adds a nice quiz show effect. And then when daddy gives me five at the end it sets me back to counting again. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.

Who Ya Callin' Tub-by?

Putting on the Frizz

You Enjoy Myself

While this wasn't my first official bath in the big girl tub, it was my first my first solo bath. You all know how proficient I am at covering my privates in pictures so it should come as no surprise that I was able to keep these pics PG-13. Did need a little extra hand from daddy and the sailboat in the second one though.

Bathing Beauty

Nanananananananananana

We didn't bring my tub with us so I took a bath like a big girl. We can check that off the list on the right rail of things I'm looking forward to. It was pretty underwhelming really. Especially considering I had Mommy behind me keeping me from slipping around too much. At least my hairdo was exciting. If Ed Grimley had a baby with a shark, this is probably what she'd look like.

Steppin' Out

Earlier this week, I reached a big milestone -- I took my first steps on my own! Today was the first time we got it on video, though. Here you'll see me walking 6 steps lured by the camera before falling on my bum. I'll spare you the obvious, one small step for Ellie pun. But I will say it's one giant leap for standkind!

What the Hail?

I guess you could call this a milestone. Today I saw my first hail storm. I must say, it was quite nice.

Gimme 3 Steps

Today I took my first (recorded) steps! I'm not yet walking on my own -- in this video, I used the Alphabet Train Bubbie and Zayde got me for support -- but I'm on my way. Time to babyproof the house Mommy and Daddy -- there's a new El train in town!

I Saw Her Standing There

Daddy butchers the words to the Beatles song and it's all downhill from there.

The Whole Tooth and Nothing But the Tooth

Pearly whites

My first couple teeth started poking thru a few weeks ago but Daddy hadn't been able to get a close-up pic until today. For what it's worth, I thought you all should know that my first dentist appointment will be scheduled for 2:30 -- get it, tooth hurty? :)

Creepy Crawler

I finally started crawling today. I do this pseudo army-crawl where I use one elbow to dig forward while my other arm stays limp and I use the opposite leg to push off while the other one flails around. In this video, you can see me taking a couple small scoots to get my book. You should see how fast I go when you dangle Big Toe in front of me. Talk about cutting a rug -- I practically hack the hardwood.

Upright and Out of Sight

Halfway to sitting and spinning

My latest trick is sitting up all on my own. My personal record right now is about 12 seconds -- which was just long enough for Daddy to grab the camera and snag this shot.

Solid as a Rock, er... Rice

Can't wait til I'm ready for Frosted Flakes!

Mommy and Daddy fed me my first solid food today -- rice cereal. I had to wait til 6 months for this because of my cow's milk allergy. Apparently that makes me more prone to food allergies. Other things I have to wait on... milk (1 year), eggs (2 years), peanut butter (3 years). So I guess I won't be able to have my first PB and egg sandwich washed down with milk for quite some time.

Check out this short video (short by Daddy's standards, that is... if you've ever sat thru one of his epic videos, you'll know what I mean) of me in all my solid food eating glory...

I didn't quite finish everything in my bowl. Nor everything on my face for that matter...

Saving some for later

My First Words

Daddy's been trying to get me to say "Da-Da" pretty much every day since I was born. Well today I finally said it... sorta.

Going Batty

Mommy taught me how to bat the toys on my playmat with my hands and then caught me on tape doing the deed. As you'll see here, I tend to use my left hand a lot so Daddy thinks I'm a lefty. Mommy says it's too early to tell though. Maybe I just didn't want that hand to feel left out.

My First Sleepover

Zayde feedin' me up before puttin' me down

Mommy and Daddy finally gave me up for a night so they could get some good sleep. After a wild day, Zayde calmed me down with a feeding before putting me to bed. I slept like a, well... baby all through the night. Can't say the same for my P's though.

Guy... er, Gal Smiley

I've been smiling for about a week now but we were FINALLY able to get one on camera. Check me out grinning ear to ear for Nel. Once Daddy got it he knew this video would make good blog fodder so he put everyone on the spot to say something profound. Mommy declared it her proudest moment ever... of Janelle. And Geoff chimed in to clarify that he "just works here." Fortunately, Daddy took the hint and stopped recording before this became another marathon video clip. Reminds me of a joke... what's the longest word in the English language? Smiles. There's a mile between the first and last letter. Tee hee.

I Wanna Be Big

Ellie in Level 1 Diapers

Hit another milestone today. Outgrew my newborn diapers and moved up to size 1. Well, not so much outgrew as ran out. I kinda feel like Tom Hanks in Big...

After he shrunk back down that is!

Mommy, Wow, I'm a Big Kid Now!

Eliara in the Tub

Check out my fancy big-girl bathtub. It's got a little hamock for me to hang and a turtle that tells the temp. Only thing missing is the jets... cue Benny theme song. Or perhaps Jay-Z would be more appropriate -- "You can find me in the tub, bottle full of bub(ble bath)!"

My First Bath

Eliara's first bath

Grandma, Mommy, and Daddy gave me my first bath today. It was a sponge bath. They dabbed each part of my body then dried it. I could get used to this. Then they tried to make my hair into a mohawk. Not so much.
