Supporting Cast
Today I got my permanent cast put on. It's so nice not to have to deal with that sling. And now I have a weapon attached to ward off those aggressive kids at playgroup. Although I must say they were very nice to me today, even bringing me get well balloons. Balloon has become my new favorite word. Or rather, "ba" is my new favorite syllable. I use it for puffs/goldfish too. Daddy's trying to get me to string it together a bit... Ba, Ba, Ba, Ba Barbara Ann... take my hand....

Back in the Saddle
Now that I've got dinosaurs on my arm, the ones at the park aren't so scary. Although I sure wish this cast were extinct!

Sho-far So Good
Today Mommy and Daddy took me to high holiday services at the 4th Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue which doubles as a synagogue on Rosh Hashanah. I managed to sit quietly for about 45 minutes but as soon as they finished the tekiah gedolah on the shofar, I let out an "uh-oh" that reverberated through the church and that was our cue to peace out. We stopped outside for a quick photo opp before heading up to Skokie to meet up with Josh, Katie and gal-pal Sadie.
Casting Call
Well my Jewish new year is sure off to a rough start. We went to a park in Skokie with the Azulays and I fell off the jungle gym. It was a new park so I wasn't used to the layout and just fell backwards from about 5 feet up and landed on the wood chips with my elbow underneath my back. I cried for a long time but Mommy and Daddy didn't think anything was really wrong until dinner that night when I only used one arm. When they moved my other arm to put it on the table, I let out a scream that let them know something was out of whack. So they took me to the E.R...
By this point, it was a few hours past my bedtime. Couple that with the pain and I was not a happy Ellie. They suited up Daddy and me for some x-rays and...
Sure enough, my arm was broken. Small fracture in my elbow that should heal just fine but requires a cast nonetheless. The ER nurse made me a temporary cast until we can get an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon.
I took it all in stride and really didn't cry much once the x-rays were over. And I really like the dinosaur sling they gave me.
All patched up. Can we go back home to our cast-le now?

What's your Rosh?
Tonight was the first night of Rosh Hashanah so we all gathered at Bubbie and Zayde's (who graciously accommodated my sleep schedule much to the disbelief of cousin Rob who had been campaigning for earlier start times for years!) to nosh on apples and honey and Gerber Graduates Puffs. Before we commenced dining, we huddled for some group photos...
Hey, someone's missing!
Where'd Uncle Noah go? Don't you guys know how to use the timer feature?
Cousin Sara and I wore our loudest outfits to match our demeanor.
And cousin Ryan schooled me on the finer points of pool. I couldn't get past the name of the game. I kept wanting to dive in.

One for the Road
Sadly, Karina told us she was moving out of the state so this is her last week with me. We decided to squeeze in one last playgroup with her friend's kids at Lily's house. I really hope I get to see her and my other friends again. If not, we'll always have this blog post.

Totally Be-Cuddled
Auntie Em tucked me in for bed tonight and I gave her a good cuddle for the road. She looks more ready for sleep than I am!
In A Category All His Own
Today was yet another official date with my man Leo J Spiegel. That makes 11! Rather than do this crazy linking thing every time we get together, I think Leo's deserves his own category on this blog. So I just set up Leo J to track all our posts (13 so far!). That makes it a 3-way tie with Doctor and Holidays.
We had fun playing at my house playing ring around the Gracie.
Then we went to the park and got cozy on the slide.
Finally, Leo sacked up and moved in for the smooch. Poor guy whiffed. (DK needs to teach me that turn your head at the last minute to make a cheek kiss and mouth kiss trick!)

Mock Reading
Before we went to the park, Leo dazzled us with his "reading" of Polar Bear Polar Bear (the long-awaited sequel to Brown Bear Brown Bear).

Beach Bit
Today we went to Oak Street Beachtro for DK's b-day. It was a joyous occasion.
Jenny got in her fair share of hold-Ellie time. She's getting ready to hoist a little one of her own!
I got a little bored while the guys were shuffling.
Auntie Em kept me well fed throughout the proceedings. Meanwhile, Rhiannon was pleased that I got the memo that turquoise is in this summer.

Strike a Paws
Auntie Em came in town yesterday and brought Gracie with her. I took a quick moment away from chasing her (Gracie that is, not Auntie Em) around the living room to pose for this picture. Then they stopped dogging me with the camera so I could get back to dogging it with the dog!

I Have a Feeling We're Going to Be Seeing a Lot of this Outfit
Today Kathy came over to take some "professional pics." Mommy and Auntie Em did some primping to get just the right look.
Voila!
Meanwhile, I busted out that "I'm too cool, I just don't care" pose I'd been working on.
We found just the right background scenery at the park.
The upskirt pic sent the paparazzi into a tizzy.
Rollin', rollin', rollin...
Rawhide!
OK, there's too many pics to put captions to all of them so I'll only jump in as needed. (And sorry for no secret messages in the ALT tags!)
That's Tomas, my neighbor. He just moved here from Argentina!
So what if Jesus walked on water. I can freeze time (and water!)
That's Claya, another neighbor.
Are you done following me around now?
